Nancy and Denise met in the waiting room at MPTC. They are both Georgetown University alumni and this is what brought them together in the waiting room at MPTC. Nancy found out about proton radiation through her own research at The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
After speaking with a doctor there, he also confirmed that the Maryland Proton Treatment Center is a a great option for Nancy as it would be closer to her home in Va. Nancy consulted with her own doctor and asked if this was a reasonable treatment option. Her doctor agreed. Soon thereafter Nancy started and completed 37 treatments of proton therapy treatments.
This was Nancy’s second time with cancer and the type and location of her cancer was unique. Proton radiation served its purpose of being precise to shrink Nancy’s tumor and preserve the surrounding healthy tissue.
